Appliqued shades of grey create a stark, stormy landscape. A lone ocotillo cactus is appliqued appearing to catch a ray of sunlight as indicated by it's shadow. Fine details of free motion stitching create leaves, cactus spines and rich red-orange flower spikes. Sky fabric is hand painted. Machine pieced and quilted.
