Hand-painted cotton in pinks and blues, randomly pieced, is broken by a diamond of white, as the winter ice and snow break up. Bunches of golden and purple hand-painted silk crocus push their way up with the arrival of spring. Free motion appliqué, raw edge on the leaves and satin stitch on the blossoms, adds detail and accents with rayon threads in rich colors. Machine pieced, appliquéd and quilted.
